Раби Йоэль бар Шмуэль Яфе (р. Йоэль Сиркис; Бах; 5321—5400 /1561—1640/ гг.) — выдающийся законоучитель…. В Меджибоже р. Йоэль основал большую ешиву — нуждающихся учеников он обеспечивал на средства своей семьи. Значительную материальную помощь ему оказывала мать жены, ребецин Сирка (отсюда и его фамильное прозвище — Сиркис, т.е. зять Сирки).
